Call to Worship                                   Rev  Debbie

It is time to get ready.  Let us make room.

O Come, O Come, Emmanuel

Keep Watch.  Do not slumber.  Look for the Light.

O Come, O Come, Emmanuel

Our hope is found in angels' voices, shepherds and flocks, a mother and Child, a star.

It is Advent; let us go to Bethlehem.

*Opening Hymn   - #119 -

                "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel"

Opening Prayer (unison)

O Lord, how great is our need of Bethlehem.

Help us on this Advent journey to find our kneeling places there.  Light our way with Hope --the hope that clings to every heart and believes that You are making all things new.

Bless our gathering of worship and renew our faith.  We pray in the name of our Emmanuel, Amen.

Reading for the Candle of Hope     Doug and Mark

Today we light the candle of Hope.  We do so knowing all the reasons why hope seems lost, But this is the season of Advent and God is up to something, yet again!

With hope, we are able to see our mighty God in the most unlikely places as a child in a stable, and in an empty tomb.  Let us enjoy the Light as we listen to Jeremiah 29:11.

"For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope."

Announcements, Concerns, and Joys        Sandy

Prayers of the People                       Rev  Debbie

THE LORD'S PRAYER (in unison)

     Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name.  Thy kingdom come.  Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,  for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,  forever.    Amen

Scripture Reading                                        Grace

Isaiah 2:1-5  (NRSV)

1 The word that Isaiah son of Amoz saw                      concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

2 In days to come
   the mountain of the Lord’s house
   shall be established as the highest of the                mountains,
   and shall be raised above the hills;
   all the nations shall stream to it.

3 Many peoples shall come and say,
   “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
   to the house of the God of Jacob;
   that he may teach us his ways
   and that we may walk in his paths.”
   For out of Zion shall go forth instruction,
   and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

4 He shall judge between the nations,
   and shall arbitrate for many peoples;
   they shall beat their swords into plowshares,
   and their spears into pruning hooks;
   nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
   neither shall they learn war any more.

5 O house of Jacob,
   come, let us walk
   in the light of the Lord!

May God add His blessings

to the reading of these Scriptures
